This course is available until March 5, 2026.

This conference provides knowledge and insight into rehabilitation feasibility and safety, psychosocial elements of the patient in the intensive care unit, and necessary knowledge and skills to foster rehabilitation of both adult and pediatric patients in the intensive care unit within small and large medical institutions. This course is important for multiple healthcare stakeholders as the demand for rehabilitation services embedded in the intensive care unit and the medical complexity of those patients increases. This conference hosts diverse curriculum and multidisciplinary presenters, including colleagues from psychology, speech/neurology, nursing, therapy services and physicians. This conference offers both an adult and pediatric track along with shared content, including lessons learned in the recent pandemic such as PICS and rehabilitation for patients with post-COVID long haulers syndrome.

The conference provides novel ideas that build and reinforce the objectives from the first conference. This year a new addition to the conference curriculum will be knowledge regarding perspective of care from social work, psychology, pediatric OT/PT and speech therapy disciplines. Furthermore, this conference will provide additional knowledge and intervention strategies to foster critical thinking among rehabilitation staff to support novice practitioners in the intensive care units.
