Nursing Grand Rounds: Ending the Crisis: Opioids, Addiction, and Nursing's Frontline Role
This course will provide statistics about the opioid epidemic, outline safe opioid prescribing practices, provide the biology behind addiction, compare different treatment strategies, and provide tools to manage hostile patient encounters with opioids.
Target Audience
This CNE course is designed for RNs, LPNs, social workers, and healthcare professionals in all practice settings.
Learning Objectives
Upon completion of this activity, participants should be able to:
- Review the evolving statistics surrounding the Opioid Epidemic
- Discuss the role of over-prescribing in opioid-related complications
- Understand safe opioid prescribing and administration practices
- Analyze the biology that drives addiction
