Mayo Clinic Updates in Internal Medicine 2024 This course will present updated and actionable information throughout the ever-changing discipline of internal medicine.  Topics that will be covered include, cardiology, pulmonology, endocrinology, infectious disease, gastroenterology, women’s health, hospital medicine, healthcare policy, and general internal medicine.  Based on attendee requests, we are now including workshops devoted to hospital-based management and healthcare policy..

Healthcare Policy Workshop Description (optional, separate fee applies)
Healthcare policy changes rapidly. There are very few opportunities available to interested clinicians to learn more about health policy and advocacy in-depth in a concise and efficient manner. Moreover, the session will be taught by a group of clinicians with extensive expertise in health policy and advocacy.

This interactive 6.00 credit workshop will include pre-course and in-person materials. The course will be presented in a hybrid model (in-person or livestream*).

Hospital Medicine Workshop Description (optional, separate fee applies)
This workshop will include in-depth coverage of acute conditions and decompensated disease states frequently encountered by the hospitalist, presented in a case-based, interactive format

This interactive 4.00 credit workshop will be presented in a hybrid model (in-person or livestream*).  

Target Audience

Practicing general internists, family practice physicians, subspecialists, and advanced practice providers in need of practice updates.

Learning Objectives

Upon completion of Updates in Internal Medicine, participants should be able to:

  1. Summarize various updates and guidelines that impact the practice of internal medicine
  2. Define post COVID syndrome
  3. Identify appropriate treatment options for post COVID syndrome
  4. Recall clinical updates in various cardiovascular conditions
  5. Recall practice pearls in various cardiovascular conditions
  6. Summarize medication treatment options for fibromyalgia
  7. Summarize non-medication treatment options for fibromyalgia
  8. Recall updates in diabetes medication management strategies

Interaction will be incorporated using one audience response system for both livestream and in-person audiences. The system will permit the livestream and in-person audiences to submit questions to the presenters. Questions will be summarized and moderated immediately following each presentation.
