Designed for endocrinologists and interested primary care providers and surgeons, this course addresses gaps in medical knowledge and barriers in clinical practice to improve the outcomes of patients with endocrine and metabolic disorders. This program will consist of lectures, small groups, panel discussion, and debate formats covering best practices, barriers to optimal patient outcomes and new approaches to the evaluation and management of complex and common endocrine disorders. This year's program will also innovate in delivery format and topics with the addition of a hands-on workshop on diabetes technology and a dedicated course on artificial intelligence in endocrinology.
Target Audience
This course is designed to meet the professional needs of practicing endocrinologists, endocrine surgeons, pharmacists, and interested internists who care for adults with endocrine disorders.
Learning Objectives
Upon completion of this activity, participants should be able to:
- Identify the current AI tools and technologies available for the diagnosis and management of endocrine disorders.
- Demonstrate how to integrate AI tools into clinical workflows to enhance decision-making and patient care.
- Discuss the ethical and privacy concerns related to the use of AI in endocrinology.
- Identify the various types of diabetes technology available, including CGMs, insulin pumps, and automated insulin delivery systems.
- Develop strategies for interpreting diabetes technology device data and adjusting treatment plans accordingly and effective methods for educating patients about the use and benefits of diabetes technology.
- Demonstrate proficiency in the use of advanced imaging modalities for localizing parathyroid adenomas to guide successful parathyroidectomy, including techniques for reoperative cases and ectopic or supernumerary glands.
- Evaluate the various treatment options for pituitary Cushing's disease, including transsphenoidal surgery, medical therapies, and radiation therapy.
