This course is designed to prepare new and experienced preceptors with the skills needed to serve in the clinical faculty role. The course contains nine modules of topics identified by Mayo Clinic School of Health Sciences faculty that preceptors desire when working with students. Each module includes a pre and post-test, short article to read through, and a video to help you utilize the concepts when working with nurse practitioner and physician assistant students. You may work through the modules at your own pace, completing them at your convenience and refer to them as you need to in the future.

A request will then be submitted for you to be given access to the course. Danielle will email you once this has been granted.
Target Audience
This activity is appropriate for physicians, nurse practitioners, and physician assistants interested in serving as clinical preceptors.
Learning Objectives
- Apply structured communication techniques to deliver NP and PA student feedback on performance.
- Analyze the process needed for preceptor documentation of NP and PA students in the electronic medical record.
- Differentiate methods to improve time management and efficiency when precepting students in a busy clinical practice.
- Interpret the legal and ethical considerations of precepting students.
