Nutrition, physical activity and other healthy lifestyle behaviors are vital components in the promotion of health and in the treatment of disease. This program highlights ambulatory nutrition and wellness topics with multidisciplinary faculty. Current clinical topics are highlighted through presentations, interactive case studies and panel discussions. Participants have many opportunities for interaction with course faculty selected for their expertise, knowledge and clinical acumen.
Target Audience
This course is designed for physicians in general internal medicine, family medicine, and endocrinology. It may also be of interest to subspecialists interested in nutrition, nurse practitioners, physician assistants, dietitians and health and wellness specialists.
Learning Objectives
Upon completion of this activity, participants should be able to:
Describe how to assess the patient with obesity to best address their needs through multidisciplinary approaches.
Review the benefits of quality nutrition for disease management for adult and pediatric patients.
Recall evidence-based strategies for the treatment of obesity related medical disorders including type 2 diabetes, metabolic dysfunction-associated steatotic liver disease and hyperlipidemia.
