COURSE DIRECTOR
Aziza Nassar, M.D., M.P.H.

DESCRIPTION
This weekly conference is organized by the MCF Department of Laboratory Medicine and Pathology and designed for pathologists, radiologists, Breast Center members and trainees. During the conference, we review cases from the week before. The radiologist describes the imaging projected on a TV monitor (multiple imaging modalities may be incorporated) and the pathologist reviews the biopsy findings, while the audience/trainees learn by viewing at the multihead microscope or projected images on a second TV monitor. The conference is an opportunity to evaluate pathology-radiology concordance to optimize management decisions for patients. The forum allows open discussion among participants to enhance improved understanding of specific radiology and pathology patterns in breast disease.

TARGET AUDIENCE
This course is intended for physicians, nurses, nurse practitioners, resident fellows, and scientists.

LEARNING OBJECTIVES
Upon completion of this activity, participants should be able to:

  • Review various breast imaging modalities and usage/advantages of each.
  • Review current pathology terminology and histologic features of various breast lesions.
  • Review weekly breast biopsy cases for pathologic-radiologic concordance.
  • Integrate pathologic, radiologic, and clinical findings to formulate diagnosis and patient management.
